Barr McIntosh Advisory was co-founded by father and daughter duo, Colin Barr and Tamara Barr.

Colin has been providing senior level sourcing and placement solutions for over 40 years through his Executive Search & Selection firm, Barr McIntosh (est 1978). Colin brings with him experience across the Corporate sector covering senior and general management, IT, Telecommunications, Project Management and Engineering.

Tamara Barr is the former Deputy Company Secretary of a prominent Lloyd’s of London Insurance Agency and brings her knowledge and experience in Board and Senior Management level consultation. Tamara has provided Corporate Governance solutions across a number of financial institutions in both London and Melbourne. Having returned from London, Tamara joined the family practice, Barr McIntosh, and established Barr McIntosh Advisory with Colin.

Colin has in excess of 40 years’ experience in the Recruitment Industry with particular emphasis on Senior Executive Search with depth in the Technology and Engineering Sectors. He strives to deliver the best possible Candidate, not just the best available.

He has run his own Search & Selection practice for many years and was founding Director of a successful IT Consultancy company. Colin’s background in Electrical Engineering, covering Motor Control Design and Ship’s Weapons Systems, has given him a strong empathy with the manufacturing and technology sectors and a clear understanding of process.

He has worked for a range of organisations across most industry sectors covering Information Technology, Carrier Grade Telecommunications, Defence, Manufacturing, Retail, Supply Chain Management, Professional Services and IT &T Vendors.

Colin’s aim is to be your Trusted Advisor in your goal to augment, grow or change you career. Known for providing honest, intelligent and highly commercial advice to clients and candidates, he is the person senior professionals talk to when they want career advice they can trust, and Colin’s extensive corporate network is testament to his experience and influence.

Colin has written numerous papers and given many talks on the Search Process. His latest eBook on hiring quality talent, The Recruitment Process – a Step by Step Guide to Delivering Quality Talent, is available upon request.

Married with three children, his interests lie in family and sports. A keen Scuba Diver, he enjoys the outdoors, shares a love of horses with his daughter, and diving, football and cricket with his sons.

With over 10 years’ experience in the corporate sphere as a Company Secretary, predominantly within the Finance sector, Tamara brings a wealth of knowledge around C Suite and Senior Management organisation and corporate governance consulting.

Tamara brings over 10 years’ experience in the Company Secretariat; working in the corporate sphere in financial services as a certificated Company Secretary (GIA). She most recently practiced as Deputy Company Secretary and Operations Manager for Independent Expert Review at Pembroke Managing Agency Limited, a prominent Lloyd’s of London insurance agency, via her consulting company, Clearsky Blue Ltd.

Tamara opened Clearsky Blue in London and worked alongside small business and UK insurance companies to provide Board structure and Corporate Governance advice, Recruiting and Operations.

She has returned home to Australia to co-found Barr McIntosh Advisory, where she looks forward to working with many professionals to achieve their personal career goals.

Alongside Colin, Tamara also practices as Senior Consultant at Barr McIntosh, a boutique senior level Search & Selection firm.
